A Message from Pastor DAN about Coronavirus (COVID-19)
(Posted March 13th)
Pure Heart Family,
As most of you, we are paying close attention to the news regarding the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and are praying for all those impacted by it around the world. We want you to know we are actively monitoring the developing situation, have been in conversation with the Governor’s Office as well as the Arizona Department of Health Services. On this page, we will give you further updates in regards to Pure Heart Church and our campus gatherings, and we will do our best to share updates with additional resources.
We know this: as followers of Jesus we are not driven by fear, and we will continue to be alert but not anxious about this situation. We will continue to do our best to keep Pure Heart clean and safe for you and your family each and every weekend. We understand that many organizations, events and churches have decided to suspend their physical gatherings and we fully support their decisions, understanding the responsibility of making that call and the weight of those decisions. As a church, we have listened to wise counsel, sought out essential information and, above all, prayed for God’s guidance for our specific community. At Pure Heart, we have decided to move forward with our regular weekend services and would love to see you in person on either of our campuses.
However, if you are sick with any illness, have underlying health issues that could put you at risk, have a family member that could be put at risk, or simply feel uneasy about gathering in a group setting during this time, we would ask you to use caution, stay home and join us for one of our online services instead. We know that we are called to care for each other and we take that very seriously. We have a thriving online community where you can connect with our weekend services and stay plugged in to what God is doing at Pure Heart. You can watch services online through our website at live.pureheart.org, through our Pure Heart App, and also on our Facebook page. You can find us on YouTube as well and watch posted services at any time.
In the midst of all of this, thank you for your continued prayers. We continue to see God move in amazing ways and we look forward to what he is continuing to do and will do moving forward. God is always revealing opportunities in every situation where we can shine his light – let’s take advantage of those opportunities and shine brightly!
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
-Philippians 4:6-7
KEY QUESTIONS:
What safety measures are in place at weekend services?
Before and between each service, our tremendous team will be actively cleaning our campuses and wiping down high traffic areas. Also, hand sanitizer is available in multiple key areas across our campuses.
Some key Weekend Service specifics:
– All volunteers are being vigilant with elevated hygiene standards, including diligently washing their hands throughout their service time.
– Greeters will be opening doors for everyone attending.
– All door handles, tables and counters will be wiped in between each service and throughout the services.
– Communion – elements will be double cupped and will be handed out with a volunteer wearing gloves.
What about our kids?
You can be assured that classrooms in Heart Kids are cleaned regularly with disinfectant spray and wipes. Bathrooms, floors and sinks are cleaned several times a week, floors are vacuumed each time rooms are used. We currently operate within strong guidelines for a healthy environment in our Next Gen Ministry (please refer to the Heart Kids Parent Handbook for our sick child policy throughout children’s ministry at both Glendale and Peoria campuses).
Some key Next Gen specifics (including High School gatherings):
– All frequently touched surfaces, including toys and door handles, will be cleaned before and after each service.
– The slide will be closed at the Glendale Campus.
– All check-in stations will be staffed by a volunteer as to avoid multiple people touching screens and keyboards.
– Hand sanitizer is regularly available in all Pure Kids and Youth areas as well as throughout the whole campus.
As a reminder, our sick child policy is as follows:
*Please do not check in your child if he/she has any of the following symptoms: fever, diarrhea, or vomiting within the last 48 hours, green or yellow runny nose, eye or skin infections, other symptoms of communicable or infectious diseases.
– All staff and volunteers who show the same symptoms above are also asked to stay home, which is standard operating procedure.
Watching Online:
We will broadcast all services live from our Glendale campus as normal (accessible through our webpage and the app) and will also be extending the recorded video to our Facebook page as well. We will be sure that links to the message are also made easily accessible on multiple platforms. Contact links for Next Steps, additional ways to engage, and Online Giving will also be readily available to those attending online!
We are also looking at ways to stay connected and engage midweek with our church family, encouraging smaller community connections and online watch parties, as well as continuing our ongoing Pure Heart Podcast.
