Past, Present & Future

A LOOK AT THE PAST:

Pure Heart Christian Fellowship began in such a humble and unassuming manner. In 1986, a handful of believers began to meet in the home of Pastors George & Nyla Rayburn for a group Bible study. Guided by their trust in the leadership of the Holy Spirit, this early group forged the foundation of Pure Heart through their beliefs in the importance of intimacy with God, faith, ministry through spiritual gifts, community, prayer and an enthusiastic passion to connect with those who were disconnected from God.

A LOOK AT THE PRESENT:

It is upon the foundation already laid that Pure Heart continues to build as we move expectantly into the 21st Century. Our earnest desire is to be authentic and relevant to a generation that typically believes church to be full of hypocrisy or of no applicable value in their lives. At the same time, we are focused upon strengthening those who are already connected to the family of God. Church shouldn’t be - doesn’t have to be - boring or irrelevant. We continue to strive to build a community of worshippers that are alive, vibrant and whose message speaks practically to the issues in our daily lives!

What has emerged in our attempt to make church relevant and practical? We call it being a “Spirit-led” church. This extends far beyond our weekend services that are filled with upbeat praise and worship, practical biblically-based messages, dynamic visual presentations and much more…

This involves being a body of believers desiring to demonstrate God’s love in tangible ways to a seeking and often hurting world. We value the fellowship we have with one another. So, even as the number of people calling Pure Heart “home” grows, we cultivate an atmosphere of acceptance and trust through caring small groups.

Pure Heart continues to be a church that encourages and promotes teaching and continued learning. Utilizing the variety of settings available, we strive to offer messages, classes and materials that lead not only to an increase in information, but to a personal transformation. This focus is demonstrated as we seek to be “disciples” of Jesus – a word that means both “learner” and “teacher.”

As a Spirit-led church, we believe that every believer is to be a minister of Christ. That’s why we provide a multitude of increasingly challenging ministry opportunities. Everywhere you look on our campus – from the wave of the parking lot greeter, the classroom full of enthusiastic children being led in worship songs, and to the smiling faces offering delicious coffee – you’ll see a part of our family ministering. There is a special place for everyone to be involved here at Pure Heart.

A LOOK AT THE FUTURE:

While none of us can guarantee what tomorrow will bring, we believe that God has given us a vision for continued growth, within ourselves, our community and the world beyond. Empowered by God and led by His Spirit, our obedience will allow us to equip and enable the church to reach outward and show countless numbers of people, currently untouched by Jesus, who He really is.

With our passion for reaching people far away from God, we have a vision for the planting of new churches. In order to fulfill this idea, we must develop new leaders, teachers, small group hosts, and more. This growth will require a continued emphasis on discipleship, mentoring and leadership development.

Above all else, we will continue to seek new and more effective means to share the joy and love of Jesus to those around us, grow deeper in our faith, draw closer in our intimate relationships with God and welcome the Holy Spirit’s influence and impact upon our lives. We invite you to join us as we endeavor to be a church where love is felt, lives are changed, the Holy Spirit embraced and the world engaged.
