Weekly Devotionals for December 19th–25th
Growing in Devotion
It’s important that we spend time each day in God’s Word. Below you will find this week’s daily devotions.
December 19th – Genesis 17:3-5
3 Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: 4 "As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. 5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. (NKJV) For further study, Genesis 17
Prayer Focus: God, please change me as You changed Abram. Show me what Your plan is for my life and change me into the person that is able to do all that You have for me to do in this life. I ask this In the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. Amen.
December 20th – Judges 6:11-12
11 Now the Angel of the LORD came and sat under the terebinth tree which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites. 12 And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, "The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!" (NKJV) For further study, Judges 6
Prayer Focus: Father, there are places in my life that I don’t feel victorious, just like Gideon. Teach me to be a mighty person of valor as You taught Gideon so that I may win the battles in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
December 21st – Joshua 1:5-6
5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. (NKJV) For further study, Joshua 1
Prayer Focus: Lord, please help me understand who I am in Jesus Christ and what power I have as a believer in Jesus Christ. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
December 22nd – Matthew 4:18-20
18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." 20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him. (NKJV) For further study, Matthew 4
Prayer Focus: Heavenly Father, help me to be a light unto the world and bring many to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
December 23rd – 1 Samuel 3:9-10
9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, "Go, lie down; and it shall be, if He calls you, that you must say, ‘Speak, LORD, for Your servant hears.’" So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 Now the LORD came and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel answered, "Speak, for Your servant hears." (NKJV) For further study, 1 Samuel 3
Prayer Focus: God, wake me up to the calling You have for me as a believer in Jesus. Show me the plans You have for my life. I ask this in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
December 24th – Acts 22:6-8
6 "Now it happened, as I journeyed and came near Damascus at about noon, suddenly a great light from heaven shone around me. 7 And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’ 8 So I answered, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.’” (NKJV) For further study, Acts 22
Prayer Focus: Father, show me the places in my life that I’m going in the wrong direction and set me back on the right path as You did with Saul on the road to Damascus. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit just as You filled him. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
December 25th – Philippians 2:6-9
6 Who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name. (NKJV) For Further study, Philippians 2
Prayer Focus: God, thank You for Your love for me, sending Your only son to die for my sins. I cannot thank You enough for what You have done in my life. Please continue to make me more like Jesus every day. I pray in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
