Weekly Devotional for December 5th – 11th
Growing in Devotion
It’s important that we spend time each day in God’s Word. Below you will find this week’s daily devotions.
December 5th – Genesis 2:21-24
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23 And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. (NKJV) For further study, Genesis 2
Prayer Focus: Heavenly Father, thank You for marriage, the union of one man and one woman. Help our country return to Your original plan for us. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
December 6th – Deuteronomy 24:1-2
1 “When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, 2 when she has departed from his house, and goes and becomes another man’s wife.” (NKJV) For further study, Deuteronomy 24
Prayer Focus: Lord, I pray that people that name the name of Your Son Jesus Christ would seek first to save their marriages and work on them instead of seeking to divorce to solve their problems. Give them strength and help them. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
December 7th – Ephesians 5:23-25
23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, (NKJV) For further study, Ephesians 5
Prayer Focus: God, I pray that Christian husbands would stand up and be all that You asked them to be to their wives and their children, let them love them as they should even when they are disobedient and refuse to follow their leadership. May they lead them and love them with the love of Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
December 8th – 1 Peter 3:7
7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. (NKJV) For further study, 1 Peter 3
Prayer Focus: Lord, may our homes be homes where godly peace rules and reigns so that no ones prayer would ever be hindered. We ask this in Jesus Your son’s name. Amen.
December 9th – 1 Corinthians 7:2-4
2 Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. (NKJV) For further study, 1 Corinthians 7
Prayer Focus: Father, please break the selfishness in marriages and let the people that are in a marriage give one to another everything that the other needs to live in peace and have a godly life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
December 10th – Proverbs 5:16-20
16 Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets? 17 Let them be only your own, and not for strangers with you. 18 Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth. 19 As a loving deer and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; and always be enraptured with her love. 20 For why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman, and be embraced in the arms of a seductress? (NKJV) For further study, Proverbs 5
Prayer Focus: God, break the hold of pornography and immoral living in this country, return us to Your godly plan. We ask this in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
December 11th – Revelation 19:6-8
6 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! 7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. (NKJV) For further study, Revelation 19
Prayer Focus: Father, thank You that You have prepared a place for us in heaven to be with You. Help us live a life that honors You. In the name of Your Son Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
