Weekly Devotionals for October 3rd–9th
October 3rd – Acts 24:16
16 This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men. (NKJV) For further study, Acts 24
Prayer Focus: God, help me to not take offense even when I am being attacked, help me to look to You and not be offended. Paul was not offended. He knew that You would protect him. Help me to trust You. I ask this in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
October 4th – 1 Corinthians 10:32-33
32 Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God, 33 just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. (NKJV) For further study, 1 Corinthians 10
Prayer Focus: Lord, I see from this scripture that when I take offense or offend others that the gospel of Jesus may be hindered and people may not be saved. Help me not to offend or be offended, I want to see all people saved. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
October 5th – Proverbs 18:19
19 A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, and contentions are like the bars of a castle. (NKJV) For further study, Proverbs 18
Prayer Focus: Father, help me not to be offended and put up walls that will keep me from Your plans. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. Amen.
October 6th – Mark 4:16-17
16 And in the same way the ones sown upon stony ground are those who, when they hear the Word, at once receive and accept and welcome it with joy; 17 And they have no real root in themselves, and so they endure for a little while; then when trouble or persecution arises on account of the Word, they immediately are offended (become displeased, indignant, resentful) and they stumble and fall away. (AMP) For further study, Mark 4
Prayer Focus: Lord God, please help me not to hold on to any offenses. Especially those that would keep me from growing into who You would have me become. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
October 7th – 1 Corinthians 6:6-8
6 But brother goes to law against brother, and that before [Gentile judges who are] unbelievers [without faith or trust in the Gospel of Christ]? 7 Why, the very fact of your having lawsuits with one another at all is a defect (a defeat, an evidence of positive moral loss for you). Why not rather let yourselves suffer wrong and be deprived of what is your due? Why not rather be cheated (defrauded and robbed)? 8 But [instead it is you] yourselves who wrong and defraud, and that even your own brethren [by so treating them]! (AMP) For further study, 1 Corinthians 6
Prayer Focus: God, change my heart to be like Your heart even forgiving when I have been wronged or offended. Let me have the courage to suffer the wrong or offense when I should so that I may learn to live as one of Your children should live. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
October 8th – Romans 16:17-18
17 Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. 18 For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. (NKJV) For further study, Romans 16
Prayer Focus: Father, keep me from falling in with those that hold offenses and spread those offences to others. Let me see clearly from now on that this is not right and not what You would want me to do. Help me stand strong against it. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
October 9th – Ephesians 4:32-5:1
32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. (NKJV) For further study, Ephesians 4
Prayer Focus: God, Your Son was not offended even though there were many times He could have taken offense, He did not, He forgave. So right now I choose to forgive all offenses that have ever been done to me, just as You have forgiven all my offenses through Jesus Christ and His work on the cross. Please give me that love and strength to do this. I need Your strength to do this. Father, help me. In Jesus’ name I ask this. Amen.
