Growing in Devotion
It’s important that we spend time each day in God’s Word. Below you will find this week’s daily devotions.
July 25th – Exodus 20:14
14 “You shall not commit adultery.” (NKJV) For further study, Exodus 20
Prayer Focus: Father, as I look at this, I think of this country and how we have stopped honoring You by committing adultery and not condemning it when it happens around us. Lord, we confess it as sin. Please forgive this nation and help us to repent. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
July 26th – Matthew 5:27-28
27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (NKJV) For further study, Matthew 5
Prayer Focus: God, in our society men and women look upon each other with lust in their hearts. It is sinful; forgive us and turn our hearts back to You and Your ways. I ask this in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.

10 ‘The man who commits adultery with another man’s wife, he who commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress, shall surely be put to death.’ (NKJV) For further study, Leviticus 20
Prayer Focus: Lord, You are serious about adultery among Your people. Father, help all that name the name of Christ guard their hearts and lives against adultery with the help of Your Holy Spirit. Let us have victory over adultery in the church. In the name of Your Son Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
July 28th – Romans 13:9-10
9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (NKJV) For further study, Romans 13
Prayer Focus: God, help us all to “Put on Jesus Christ” and deny the works of the flesh. Adultery hurts people; help us to do no harm to our neighbors. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
July 29th – Proverbs 6:32-35
32 Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he who does so destroys his own soul. 33 Wounds and dishonor he will get, and his reproach will not be wiped away. 34 For jealousy is a husband’s fury; therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. 35 He will accept no recompense, nor will he be appeased though you give many gifts. (NKJV) For further study, Proverbs 6
Prayer Focus: Father, return wisdom to the church and then to this nation that we would understand the damage that adultery causes so that we would avoid it and condemn it as we should. In the name of Your Son Jesus we pray. Amen.
July 30th – Galatians 5:19-23
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. (NKJV) For further study, Galatians 5
Prayer Focus: Heavenly Father, help us all to understand what Your Word says, that all who continue in adultery “will not inherit the kingdom of God”. May all adulterers repent. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
July 31st – James 2:11
11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. (NKJV) For Further study, James 2
Prayer Focus: Father, thank You for Your Son who paid the price for us that we no longer have the consequences of the law. Help us to walk with Your Spirit so we will not break Your laws. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
